The best song was the "theme song", performed in the beginning and in the end. There were a few touching songs (and the mead song was funny), but they hardly had anything to do with Vikings, as far as the sound of the music goes.

I wonder how long the City Theatre will keep bringing musicals to the stage (there's at least one more on the way) instead of big productions of spoken theatre. I suppose the blander the music is, the wider the possible audience, but I'm just wondering if that will eventually turn out to be less than a good deal. I guess they're trying to fill as many seats as possible for the time being, just to mend the holes in the budget. (Yes, I found the tickets too expensive, all things considered. At least I got mine with a student discount.)

I suppose the small stage of Sopukka is at the moment the place to go for excellent "ordinary" plays. I'm hearing nothing but praise for Kuka pelkää Virginia Woolfia? and intend to go see it as soon as possible.Johannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03137324785415316721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8306970.post-68231623521982271242007-05-06T17:09:00.000+03:002007-05-06T17:09:00.000+03:00"Entertained, if not thrilled" is a pretty good su..."Entertained, if not thrilled" is a pretty good summary of how I also felt about Thorin vasara. You probably haven't seen the latest ish of my fanzine, but I wrote a short review of the play, with quite a few similar points to those you made. Great visuals, good leads, fine singing, rubbish music. I cringed at the corny lyrics quite a lot, too.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11744494570814728578noreply@blogger.com
