Bookish fun

Yay, Vierran45 passed this one to me, whee. :) Lemmesee, if I can do this...

You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451. Which book do you want to be?
Ursula Le Guin's The Wizard of Earthsea.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
I don't have to tell you how many times, now do I? :)

The last book you finished is?
On the non-fictional side it was William H. McNeill: Plagues and Peoples and from the wonderful world of fiction it was actually George R.R. Martin: A Clash of Kings (Finnish translation).

What are you currently reading?
At the moment only (!) three books at the same time, usually I have more...

Kristiina Kalleinen: "Isänmaani onni on kuulua Venäjälle" - Vapaaherra Lars Gabriel von Haartmanin elämä
Dorothy Dunnet: The Game of Kings
Guy Gavriel Kay: The Summer Tree (Finnish translation)

Five books you would take to a deserted island?
Oh dear, this is a tough one.

Well, let's begin with the obvious and see what else is there...
J.R.R. Tolkien: Lord of the Rings
Gabriel García Márquez: Hundred Years of Solitude (my old favourite ever since mom gave it to me when I was leaving to the States for a year - I'm not quite sure she didn't intend the pun...)
Väinö Linna: Tuntematon sotilas (The Unknown Soldier)
Mika Waltari: Sinuhe egyptiläinen (The Egyptian)
Ursula Le Guin: The Earthsea -series

I'd probably want to take quite a lot more of books with me, like for instance the complete Sandman-series, but these would keep me busy for a while.

Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?
Tytti.
Aino.
Kaisa.

Well, because these ladies visit my blog and have a blog or lj of their own to post this to in their turn. In addition, I would've liked to say Robert, but his blog concentrates on different matters... Hey, Rob, if you want to take the challenge anyway, post your answers as comments to my blog! :)

You are finally succumbing under Sir Francis Crawford of Lymond's charms. Be warned that the series is highly addictive...

Yes, I am. :) The process is slow, because of everything I have going on, but he truly seems worth getting to know... ;) I can't wait till I get to the part with the Maltese Knights in it, heh.

(Yes, you'll get your books back, eventually! *grin*)

I'm going to "borrow" this game too. I love reading! I get so frustrated during the school year because I simply don't have the time to read for fun, but I always get great books for presents and they just sit there and tempt me...ahhh!!!!

I enjoy reading your blog! I'm so glad you commented on mine. I sometimes don't realize I have an audience!

Oh, and sorry about spoiling American Idol for you! I don't understand what happened with Constantine...everyone is in shock! Paula even cried!

one more thing...your written English is amazing! I'm really impressed!!

You just go right ahead and use the meme, Tigerlily! :) I have the same problem with leisurely reading myself, because there are always tons of stuff to study for exams, my thesis and everything work-related. But when I have time, I'll be sure to find a book to company me.

Nice to know you've liked my ramblings, too. :) And don't worry about spoiling AI, because I actually won't be able to watch it tomorrow anyway (a great May Day feast, yay!). I'm just really sorry for Constantine, because he really is talented. I'm sure he'll get other (and better) opportunities to shine.

And one more thing. Thank you so much for the compliment about my English. :) I did spend a year in the States some 10 years ago, so it's always good to know the money wasn't a complete waste! ;)
